Having started his affair with music from a young age, Sam Shure’s native talent and his ever-evolving skillset dot him one of the stand out artists rising this year. Pairing electronic sound design and jazzy oriental scapes with a natural flair, Sam’s sound is continuously developing as he constantly adds new textures and layers, pushing his own creative boundaries.
Growing up in central Germany, having already started playing piano at age 4, his acoustic upbringing was under the tutelage of his father, the Egyptian Jazz musician Basem Darwisch, who cultivated his appetite for Egyptian Sufi music, oriental jazz and traditional Nubian folklore.
So it’s no surprise Sam started to blend in all of these distinct influences into his sets and then later on in his own productions, with his father even featuring on one of his tracks. His sound ranges from melancholic downtempo/electronica to groovy tech house, but his productions predominantly result in dancefloor-oriented arrangements.
Always one to try his hand at composition, Sam’s debut EP Dumra was signed in 2016 by none other than Dirty Doering, the label chief of KATERMUKKE and its sister sub-label MUKKE. The title track Dumra was received with critical acclaim and climbed the top five of Beatport’s Progressive House charts.
Following this success, Sam went on to be featured and to release on noted labels Stil vor Talent, Katermukke, Mukke and Bar 25 Music.
When it comes to his DJing style, the adopted Berliner channels his creative diversity into versatile sets, being able to serve up assorted atmospheres, playing frequent sets at staple clubs such as Watergate, Sisyphos, Kater Blau and Ipse, to name a few, which also led to landing his residency at the legendary Bordel des arts party in Wilde Renate.
In addition to his pan-European travels, playing in venues across The Netherlands, Spain, Monaco, Turkey, Sam is also gaining attention internationally, having played at clubs in Russia, Israel, as well as Mexico and North America.
While 2017 has been a prolific year for the artist, 2018 sounds just as exciting as Sam joins the Stil vor Talent booking agency. His upcoming plan includes the release of two solo EPs on the German label while staying true to exploring new sounds and territories.
